Today, the benchmark indices witnessed a volatile trading session. After a roller-coaster activity, the Nifty future ends 82 points higher, while the Sensex was up by 320 points. Among sectors, Metal, Reality, and Digital indices rallied over 1 percent, whereas intraday profit booking was seen in selective FMCG stocks. Technically, after an early morning intraday correction, the market took support near 24,800/81100 and bounced back sharply. Additionally, on daily charts, it has formed a reversal formation near the 20-day SMA (Simple Moving Average), which is largely positive.
Investors remain cautious ahead of key macro-economic releases — the US Q1 GDP data (due today), followed by US April retail inflation and India’s Q4 GDP figures tomorrow. Looking ahead, we expect the market to remain range-bound, with sector rotation and stock-specific movements driven by the final set of Q4 results on Friday, macro-economic indicators, and developments on the US tariff front.
Nifty futures opened at 24915 points against the previous close of 24860 and opened at a low of 24802 points. Nifty Future closed with an average movement of 189 points and a rise of around 82 points and 24942 points…!!
On the NSE, the midcap 100 index will rise 0.55% and smallcap 100 index is closing rise 0.59%. Speaking of various sectoral indices only PSU Bank and FMCG stocks were seen selling on the NSE, while all other sectoral indices closed higher.
At the start of intra-day trading, June gold opened at Rs.94900, fell from a high of Rs.95480 points to a low of Rs.94500 with a rise of 152 points, a trend of around Rs.95430 and July Silver opened at Rs.97562, fell from a high of Rs.98400 points to a low of Rs.97545 with a rise of 1045 points, a trend of around Rs.98300.
Meanwhile, The FIIs as per Thursday’s data were net buyers in equity segment, while they were net sellers in debt segment, according to data released by the NSDL. In equity segment, the gross buying was of Rs 16929.35 crore against gross selling of Rs 12279.65 crore. Thus, FIIs stood as net buyers of Rs 4649.70 crore in equities.
In the debt segment, the gross purchase was of Rs 1866.04 crore with gross sales of Rs 3369.21 crore. Thus, FIIs stood as net sellers of Rs 1503.17 crore in debt. Of the total debt, FIIs stood as net sellers in Debt-General Limit segment at Rs 353.94 crore, they stood at net sellers in Debt-VRR segment at Rs 98.1 crore, while net sellers in Debt-FAR segment at Rs 1051.13 crore.
In the hybrid segment, the gross buying was of Rs 10.52 crore against gross selling of Rs 4.02 crore. Thus, FIIs stood as net buyers of Rs 6.50 crore in hybrid segment.
